Dr Sohère Roked is one of the UK’s leading experts in bio identical and body identical hormone therapy (BHRT). She is extremely experienced as she has seen thousands of patients and treated them with BHRT in her career.

She’s worked at a bio identical and body identical hormone clinic in London for 2 years and was trained by Dr Neal Rouzier in the USA, who is considered the world’s leading expert in BHRT.

Dr Sohère sees hormone balance as the foundation of health. Nutrition, exercise, and other lifestyle changes are important, but if the hormones are not balanced, you cannot achieve optimum health.

Bio identical and body identical hormones are plant based hormones with the same chemical structure as those naturally made by the human body and are metabolized by normal metabolic pathways.

What Can BHRT Treat?

  • Pre-menstrual syndrome
  • Thyroid disorders
  • Osteoporosis
  • Fertility problems
  • Low testosterone in men (andropause)
  • Endometriosis
  • Fibroids
  • Chronic fatigue syndrome

What Hormones Are Used?

Oestrogen – Used to treat hot flushes, help hair and skin, reduce urinary frequency, cystitis and incontinence, vaginal dryness. Oestrogen also protects against strokes heart disease, colon cancer, osteoporosis, Alzheimer’s disease, macular degeneration and cataracts.

Progesterone – treats low mood and depression, can improve sleep, help keep hair and skin health, reduce fluid retention and regulates menstrual cycles, premenstrual tension and can help fibroids. Natural progesterone protects against uterine and breast carcinomas, cardiovascular disease, ovarian cysts and fibrocystic disease.  Synthetic progestins which are present in conventional HRT and contraceptive pills frequently cause bloating, headaches, fatigue, weight gain, depression and increased symptoms of PMS.

Testosterone – this is important to regulate in men as it protects against cardiovascular disease, memory and improves libido and energy and mood. In women, good levels of testosterone improve libido, energy, motivation, muscle and bone strength.

DHEA – an adrenal hormone that reduces cardiovascular risks by decreasing visceral fat. It stimulates the immune system, restores sexual vitality, improves moods, decreases cholesterol and body fat. It improves memory, increases energy and has anti-cancer properties by enhancing the immune system. It has antidepressant effects.

Melatonin – improves sleep pattern as well as depth and quality of sleep. It’s an energiser and mood enhancer.  It also increases natural killer cells and modulates immune function.  It has powerful anti-oxidative effects.

Pregnenolone – is a precursor to other hormones.  It functions as a memory enhancer and repairs cells, particularly in the brain and nerve tissues.

Thyroid hormones – balancing thyroid function to make sure it is optimum using a range of different medications and supplements.

How is it Prescribed?

A thorough history is taken and then relevant tests are carried out. Looking at your symptoms and test results together, Dr Sohère can then create a prescription for you looking at hormones, nutrition, supplements and lifestyle changes. You will initially be monitored every 4-6 weeks to optimise your treatment. Once you are stable a six monthly review will be sufficient.
